We get a glimpse into the mind of the modern warfighter and see the the toll it takes on the brave men and women who fight for our freedom. Drones have changed the war - giving advanced knowledge to fighters on the ground (making them safer) and has created a new kind of soldier.Grab a coffee and read to the end!

I served most of my 20 year military career in Special Operations. I have read countless books on our military history to gain a better perspective of military tactics and operations. I can honestly say this is the best book I have ever read dissecting military operations, specifically in the drone era. Truly exceptional!
I have not finished the book but it looks like a smart personal account. I have read about drones in combat in other books but this looks like it will be more intensive. His mention of the silly handling of early drones and training that was not with the times is good to hear so that we know what is going on. His personal life is similar to many young people who want to be involved in something greater than themselves. We are fortunate he and many others were driven by 911. We are lucky to have such heroes even though he will not accept the term.
There is a tremendous amount of work by the US special forces and warriors in clandestine operations in multiple government organizations for which this book is used to slightly open the door of the “Box†to give the reader a glimpse. Well written to describe the heroism and horrors of fighting evil people using drone technology in other countries so that the US does not experience the same level of day to day atrocities experienced by people in many parts of the world. Well written and great insight as a warrior is born and then finds a career outside of military conflict to continue to positively impact his world.

What a fantastic book showing the evolving importance of the drone in military situations with the authors personal experience in the evolving process. He shows us through his daily life how he hunted down terrorist and the fact gathering and analyzing it took to carry out the drone attacks. Also the toll it took on him working 24/7 in a room, he called the Box, staring at computer screens watching the drones throughout finding the terrorist and then taking them out. He lets us into his life enough to show us how hard it was to come home between deployments and when he decided it was time to leave the Army. This book is full of information and I feel so informed about drones that I did not know. The drone is certainly extremely important to our military and missions in the future and can only thank the author for his incredible part in making it happen. The book kept my interest to the point I did not want to put it down. I thank the author for his military service and protecting our country and highly recommend this book.
I was fascinated by this book from start to finish. For me, that's hard to find these days. I usually read at bedtime to help me fall asleep, so the only problem with this book was I didn't want to stop reading, so it was keeping me up later! The story was unlike any other war story I've read, and it's relevance to our military practices today is unmatched. (I've heard this book is going to become a movie, which I will actually go to the theater to see, instead of waiting for it on Netflix like we usually do.) I loved this book, and didn't want it to end.
