I am a Nurse Practitioner and wanted these Grand Round cases on audio CD's to sharpen my skills! I love these Grand Rounds cases! Very interesting for medical and non-medical people! I would highly recommend these for everyone!! I am so enjoying and have listened to them several times! An easy 5 stars!!!
I used to think doctors were high functioning psychopaths---stabbing you with needles, cutting you open, treating you generally like a Lego set that they can disassemble at will. This let me see that the practice of medicine is more like detective work than butchery, which has made me more tolerant when they are poking and cutting me.These are fascinating cases presented in a progression that helps us laymen understand how doctors think. Apart from being presented in a captivating way, I've found it's made me more effective at communicating with my doctor. One of the best Great Courses I've taken.

I downloaded this as my first audio purchase. I am a nurse educator, working with registered nursing students. I have taught in the classroom, as well as in the clinical. I have found this book helpful in seeing the unfolding of different medical situations. The book has helped me communicate to students a more full view of the medical surroundings of patients. Often, students see patients in their most immediate circumstances, during the acute phase of an illness. It is much more helpful to expand the view to see what brought the patients to their current situation. I find this book a good review. The narrator is not boring, as many of the other medical books seem to be. The book is interesting.
